First time I have seen this species in this location, in fact first time I have seen a Peregrine in such closed woodland and unusual for it to be calling,it flew very soon after sighting to the usual mass hysteria of local honeyeaters. Glossy Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus lathami) (11) flew over friends house in dense SA Blue Gum forest/ Drooping Sheoak woodland, 1km upstream from Demole River mouth, NW Kangaroo Island, 8 Oct 13 Hooded Plover (Thinornis rubricollis) (2) breeding: pair incubating eggs W of Harriet River Mouth, Kangaroo Island, 13 Oct 13 Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) (35) standing in tight roost and later several feeding, shallow flood waters of Rush Lagoon, Kangaroo Island, 27 Sept 13 Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) (c 50) nesting in sodden green pasture along shoreline of extensively flooded paddocks, Rush Lagoon, Kangaroo Island, 27 Sept 13; several nests seen contained clutches of 3 and 4 eggs.
