Birdline Central & Southern Queensland Published sightings for the week ending 30 Nov 2014. Sat 29 Nov Sooty Owl, Barking Owl, Southern Boobook, Owlet Nightjar. Great Sandy National Park–Bymien Picnic Area All calling. Full list on eBird. Sarah Beavis; Kevin and Leanne Ross. Wed 26 Nov Lewin’s Rail, Spotless Crake Fresh Water Creek, Kallangur Lewin’s Rail recorded at two sites, a single bird calling at each site, in swampy reaches of Fresh Water Creek between Duffield Road and Kuhr Court, Kallangur (upstream of Wagner Park). Ample habitat to support many pairs. Habitat dominated by 100% cover of dense weedy grass (to 1.5 m height), with included ferns, forbs and emergent Typha, bordered by paperbark trees. Spotless Crake was calling at two other sites. Roger Jaensch Sooty Owls, Marbled Frogmouths Mt Nebo – Mt Glorious Sooty Owls in both Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious – I’m fairly sure the bird calling incessantly at Mt Glorious was a young bird (as 2 other birds were responding). 2 Pairs of Marbled Frogmouths (2 seen well), Southern Boobook and Australian Owlet-Nightjar (H). Great views of a Greater Glider. Rob Morris Sooty Owl, Marbled Frogmouth D’Aguilar National Park–Maiala Loop Walk Both heard only. Russell Yong & T. Crispin Mon 24 Nov Masked Owl, Sooty Owl Main Range National Park–Goomburra Section Both heard only. RussellYong, M. Barnes & J. Ringma Sun 23 Nov Wood Sandpiper Dowse Lagoon Keogh st end on foreshore . Milton Smith Sat 22 Nov Tawny Frogmouth Springwood Conservation Park Sitting on tree branch opposite the cliff on the main stairs, just past the cave. Kim Anthony Groves
