Looks like they are more common around the subs than I thought! Previously I have only noticed them in semi rural or fringe suburbs like Eltham.
Hi Anthea, I hope they don’t go ahead with the nest as I am sure the eggs would fry.
The site they are checking out is a horizontal metal box channel approx 50x75mm. It is about 3 to 4 meters of the ground so not accessible and is in full sun all day. Nothing else has ever tried to nest there as I think I would have noticed.
