Hi Birders, While passing through the town of Somerset, Qld I spotted a group of Welcome Swallows sitting on the powerlines near the camping grounds. I decided to stop and have a look at some that appeared different. Several of the swallows had stark white breasts and bellies instead of the usual grey, there was no black bar across chest as would be expected in Barn Swallows but the underparts where clearly different from the other swallows sitting with them. Their fork tails clearly extended past the wings. I managed a few reasonable photos for anyone who would be interested in seeing them. If you have any ideas I would be very interested to hear your thoughts. cheers Glenn McRae Stanthorpe, Qld ============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: birding-aus-request@vicnet.net.au

Glenn, When you say Somerset are you talking Somerset Dam where I would not expect Barn Swallows or are you talking Somerset on Cape York where you might see barn Swallows or indeed other Swallows? Cheers john
