Baillon’s Crake and Glossy Ibis at Lake Claremont, WA

A single Baillon’s Crake, 4 Australian Spotted Crake and 13 Glossy Ibis were clearly visible in a grassy inlet between reed-beds on the east side of Lake Claremont in the Perth suburb of Claremont this morning. The ibis unfortunately flew and could not be relocated but the crakes, including the Baillon’s, gave every indication of being around for some time. Five duck species were also present in the remaining water on the lake, including Pink-ear, Shoveller and Shelduck.
