Hi All, I’ve put together a directory of Australian Birds (based on Christidis, L. and W.E. Boles. (2008)) to organise bird photos/film/ research/notes on my computer. If you want to save yourself from the same hideous tedium, feel free to download the directory structure at the following link.

I haven’t proof-read it so there will surely be some tytos, sorry, typos and/or accidental omissions. The alphabetised and numeric prefixes are a little quirky, too, when you get into PASSERIFORMES but are designed to just keep the whole list in order (when ordering files by name).
I’ve also excluded extinct species from the number flow (though I wanted to change that convention halfway through).
Good luck propagating the Night Parrot and Buff-breasted Button-quail folders, Cheers, Paul ===============================

Thanks to those who proof-read the directory on my behalf. A revised folder structure can be downloaded here… http://www.dartfordwarbler.com/Australia_Birds_Directory_mkII.zip (1MB) Paul ===============================

Sorry Mark, unfortunately not. Could be a real money-spinner that. Paul ===============================

Thanks Paul for making this available. I’ve been looking for better ways to store all my data, and this is a much nicer option than my current filing system.
Would you also have done ones for other countries? I have stuff on birds from New Zealand and South Africa where this sort of system would be handy too.
Regards, Mark
