Hi folks: I am strongly considering traveling out of Adelaide to the Grampians to go filming birds this September. Can anyone advise if this is a good location? It seems to have some spectacular scenery but more to the point I was hoping to film more parrots here. Gang-gangs would be great! Thanks so much for all your great help (where would I be without this site!) Donald I camped there last September in the Plantation Campground and had lots of Gang-gangs coming into the surrounding trees right next to my tent to roost. They arrived late afternoon and left in the morning – providing lots of photo opportunities for me. Marie Tarrant On 8 July 2014 17:32, Donald G. Don Little Corellas are very common, Eastern and Crimson Rosellas abound and I recall seeing a tree full of Musk Lorikeets some years back. I think one of the best things about the Grampians, or Gariwerd, is the environmental diversity with the sandstone ranges and valleys with watercourses, wetlands and reservoirs. That provides an opportunity to observe many bird species in a fairly limited area. Spring in Gariwerd is wildflower time and it is often difficult to get accommodation. Book early to avoid disappointment! Cheers David On Tue, Jul 8, 2014 at 5:32 PM, Donald G.
