Good afternoon, I am interested in taking a group of Year 11 students from Kardinia International College on an Antarctic research expedition during the school summer break (Dec2014-Jan2015).The group would consist of students undertaking the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with a focus on completing the required research in support of their Extended Essay component. I anticipate that the group would include students who have an interest in one of the IB Experimental Sciences, IB Visual Arts or IB History, with a view to using the expedition to gather firsthand data in support of their 4000 word essay. Please excuse me if this e-mail is somewhat inappropriate for this birding forum, but I value the expertise shared by this group in association with such pelagic ventures and would appreciate receiving any information regarding regular charters, connections to Antarctic Survey research vessels and the like. Ideally, any connections with ongoing research, whereby the highly motivated and select group of students could offer “field assistance”, would be highly desirable and to some extent, this may define the size of the group. I would also be prepared to consider travelling with a well-established company/private vessel that could assist with a personalised group tour. Thank you in advance for your consideration and I would appreciate hearing from anyone off-line to fairywren1@hotmail.com or p.rose@kardinia.vic.edu.au
Kind regards, Paul
