Hello Birding Aus subscribers, A colleague of mine found this Yellow Bittern struggling to stay afloat at the re-fuelling boy in open waters north of Smith Point, Christmas Island last night (02/03/14) during a late afternoon sunset cruise. It would appear that the bird did not quite make it to land without the aided help of the dive boat. Is it unusual to find TWO Yellow Bitterns within a two week period? are they a common species within the area as my research does not seem to suggest or is there something strange going on out there? Here is a link to some images: http://www.wildsideaustralia.com.au/once-bittern-but-definitely-not-shy/ Many thanks, Brendon Levot. _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
I assume it is being sent to Manus Island – or maybe we treat wildlife better… Andrew Bell _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
