Alice Springs wader ID help

G’day all,

I’m here to appeal to the wader oracles again. There were three new waders at the poo ponds in Alice Springs this afternoon.

The picture I got is not that flash as these birds (3) were extremely wary. I’ve stuck the best image I could manage on the website here; http://comebirdwatching.blogspot.com/p/id-help.html

My best guess is that they are perhaps Great Knots, but I’d love any tips and opinions from the more experienced wader-watchers out there.

Cheers,

Chris Watson Alice Springs ===============================

    Hi Chris

    They could just as easily be Sharpies, but would like a better look at the image to be certain.

    Cheers

    Hi Chris

    Yes they are knots, but from this image it is impossible for me to be sure if either Red or Great…. perhaps if you could send me the original image then I can have a closer look at them.

    Cheers for now

    They look more like Sharp-tailed Sandpipers to me Chris. Happy to be corrected though :) Cheers David Stowe
