They look like Laughing Kookaburras to me. Lower mandible too slight, upper too curved and the back of the head too rounded for Blue-winged. Can someone with Hansab find something which we could use to make a positive ID without reference to colour. these birds are less than an hour away so I could go and measure them if that is what it comes down to. Hi all We have had 3 almost albino Laughing Kookaburras near Shellharbour, NSW, 2 in 2008/09 and 1 in 2009/10. The first 2 have pinkish bills and feet, almost pink eyes and a few black feathers but the bills were a bit askew. They were kicked out by the parents but are occasionally seen nearby. The last one is similar and is helping the parent raise this years brood. I have heaps of photos of them as the parents must both have the recessive gene with at least half of the brood being of normal colour. Cheers Chris
