Albany Pelagic Trips – Sept 20 & 21, 2014; Feb 7 & 8, 2015

Hiall, Following a couple of successful weekends of trips, Alan Collins & I have organised a further two weekends of pelagic trips off Albany, scheduled for September 2014 and February 2015 The first of these will run on the weekend of 20 & 21 September this year. These are the first trips run off Albany in September – this is usually the time of year when water temperatures are lowest, so we are hoping for increased chances of colder water species, and possibly some early passage species, in addition to the usual albatross, petrels and shearwaters. We’ve also organised a weekend of trips for the first full weekend in February next year (that is, the 7th & 8th of February). These will be the first summer pelagics run from southern WA. Hopefully we will find something different (e.g. a probable Spectactled Petrel was reported in mid-summer 2013 by the skipper of the Albany boat!), but it will be very interesting to see what’s about in summer The cost for these trips is currently expected to be $150/person/day with a full boat of 18 people, increasing if the boat is not filled (e.g. to c. $180 with 15 people).
