advertisement – Texas Birding trip for April 2016

Hello all, but especially queensland birders who may be interested in joining me and a group of Aussie birders [10 maximum]and a North American bird guide for a three week birding trip to Texas, USA in April 2016. The trip will begin in Houston and concentrate first on the Piney Woods habitat in the east of the state before heading to the coastline to catch the spectacular spring migration. The north Texas coast is the place to see both eastern and western bird migratory species [warblers, vireos, flycatchers, tanagers etc] before they head further north to their breeding grounds. A variety of habitats – wetlands, estuaries, islands, mangroves -will be visited down the coastline and we will enjoy two brief boat trips. The Rio Grande provides the border between Mexico and Texas and within a few excellent reserves we will search for a few Tex- Mex special species. Finally we will visit some of the Texas hill country north of San Antonio before we visit the Alamo! Two days birding in southern California enroute have also been planned. If you would like to know more; dates, costs etc please email me for details. Btw this is not a professional trip for me or the North American guide [Gary Davidson] as we are organising this and running it for costs only.
