Kevin Stracey *Meet The Collective – creating Adelaide’s International Bird Sanctuary through collective impact.* You are invited to a free, speed-networking style event to hear about how co-design and collective impact is being used to create Adelaide’s International Bird Sanctuary*.* The event is being hosted by The Collective, a leadership group who will be bringing the voice of the community into planning the new Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary . With over 30 members The Collective will draw on its combined broad experience and range of perspectives to influence things like how the sanctuary will be managed, ways to make the most of opportunities for nature-based tourism, and how ongoing science and monitoring activities will be supported. TheCollective include Kaurna representatives, local and international environmental non-government organisations, tourism experts, the Vietnamese Farmers Association of South Australia, local government representatives, Birds SA, university thought leaders in environment, students from Largs Bay School and Birdlife Australia. *Meet The Collective* Thursday 30 July 5.30 – 7.30 pm Fig Tree Function Centre Adelaide Zoo, Frome Rd, Adelaide The Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary, located north-west of Adelaide, will cover a 60 kilometre stretch of coast from the Barker Inlet to Port Parham, forming one of the longest continuous coastal reserves in the state. Each summer, at the peak of the migration season, the mudflats, mangroves and saltmarshes supports an estimated 27,000 shorebirds. Many of these birds are listed as threatened species.
