Radjah Shelduck

The Radjah Shelduck was at Bulahdelah (NSW mid north coast) this morning, foraging for scraps on the footpath outside the pub, in a busy main street. Most of the passing people didn’t spare it a second glance. It eventually wandered off into the riverside park between the pub and the bridge over the Pacific Highway.

Doesn’t this beg the question of whether this bird and its deceased mate were from a captive origin.

There was a person on the Mid-North Coast breeding and releasing waterfowl some years back.
