Genetic diversity

I am slightly suss about the lethality of inbreeding. The Lord Howe Island Woodhen population was reduced by rat predation to one or two pairs before breeding up again to fill the Island, presumably any bad genetic combinations died out . Cheetahs world wide apparently have no genetic variation.
Regents probably survive today because a few were more nomadic than their once numerous contemporaries, and survived when their habitat was destroyed, passing on their genes to the few hyper nomads that remain. Early collectors noted so many RHs in the Upper Hunter around Scone that the volume of their calling made conversation difficult, That area was I suspect their heartland, it has now been almost totally cleared.
Habitat destruction has caused the demise of RH’s, an indicator of Human overpopulation, as is Global Warming itself; all the windmills, Solar farms, hydro projects and even Nuclear Power can only slow the inevitable as the human population grows and grows.
Political Correctness denies any real debate on Population Control, which is the only real long term solution, but unfortunately it is too late now.
