Hi, I’ve heard this bird (?) for several years.
Never have seen it. It senses our approach and stops.
It seems to be a ground dweller as we hear it croaking from a low/ground position, between two houses. We thought at first it was captive with the neighbours, but it has been heard on the other side of our house.
I cannot find a website where I could post this except yours.
Perhaps you know what it is?
thank you.!
Jennifer

The mailing list doesn’t accept that type of file, Jennifer, just jpg files. If you’re on Facebook, you could post it in the birding-aus group, or I can do it if you like.
I listened to the copy from the moderation queue, and I don’t know what it is, but I suspect a frog. It would be helpful to know where you’re located, although I’m guessing from your email address maybe Newcastle.
