Western Treatment Plant raptors

Yesterday (Thursday 17th September) two visitors from Panama (Dan & Kay Ward) and a Canadian (Torin Heavyside) and I saw the following 11 raptor species (nearly half of all Australia’s diurnal raptor species) during a day-long visit to the WTP: Whistling Kite Black Kite Black-shouldered Kite Eastern Osprey White-bellied Sea-eagle Swamp Harrier Spotted Harrier Brown Falcon Black Falcon Australian Hobby Brown Goshawk/Collared Sparrowhawk (definite ID difficult) A solid list of birds of prey within (distant) sight of the Melbourne CBD, with a few good sightings for this location.
