The following article gives some hope that bushfire management can be returned to a more ecologically and scientifically based management activity rather than a knee-jerk reaction that imposed percentages to be burnt in a state. Hopefully other states will follow the lead of Victoria. The reference to the burning of mallee and the disastrous consequences for mallee-dependent birds is a topic that I think has been discussed in this forum. It is good to get some good news about the environment for a change. bushfire-burnoff-targets-to-be-replaced-with-riskbased-strategy-20150521-gh6mif.html Regards Greg Dr Greg. P.
