superb blue wren display

Julie and I canoed Glenelg river at Nelson Vic over the new year and we saw superb blue wren display. It was on a curved dead branch in open approx 5′ off of the ground. The feathers on its cheeks were stiffened or extended changing the shape of its face considerably. It also moved it’s head in a fashion reminiscent of one of an Indian dancer (supple but slightly jerky sideways movement) or one of those birds of paradise from PNG. Display went on for 3-4 minutes and no other bird was observed. Gary
