We were lunching at Cormorant Cove, Wivenhoe Dam and were entertained by a Pelican that bossing a Pied Cormorant.
Every time the PC surfaced, the Pelican was there to check whether it had caught anything. On both occasions that the PC had, the Pelican wrestled the catch off it. A Silver Gull picked up the scraps. It did seem that the PC was not getting much from its efforts, but it chose not to fly away. This behaviour lasted for at least 15-20 minutes.
Certainly the Pelican had it all worked out
