Hi Birdos,
I have noticed that there are some birds normally common at this time of year that are ‘missing’ around Adelaide too, but the mystery is soon solved once inland a few hundred kilometres. Songlarks, Martins, Quails, Ducks, water fowl of various kinds and waders, both migratory and sedentary are all happily living it up in the very wet and verdant plains of the outback and as yet have not been driven out by heat or aridity. When the inevitable dry does come I imagine there will be some significant irruptions toward the coastal areas.
Cheers
