Nordmann’s Greenshank found again in NW Australia

Hi all. I had an exciting find recently with another Nordmann’s Greenshank being located in the NW of Australia. The area where this bird was sighted can only be accessed through private property and the owners DO NOT want to be contacted directly. George Swann, of Kimberley Birdwatching, saw the bird with me. He has kindly offered to arrange a search for the bird on the next suitable tide series. This would be the 14th, 15th and 16th of December. If anyone is keen to look for this bird on these dates contact needs to be made directly with George to find out more details including logistics, accommodation and costs. Email info@kimberleybirdwatching.com.au mobile 0429706800 The area that this bird has been found in is within a days drive of Broome. Be aware that the area is vast and it is anticipated that several days of careful scanning through large flocks of shorebirds is required to have any real prospect of relocating it. As a potential additional bonus a Eurasian Curlew is also present nearby and combined with Broome’s Semi-palmated and Little ringed Plovers this could be a great chance to see some very rare shorebirds in Australia. Due to access restrictions this may be the only chance to look for the Nordmann’s Greenshank (and Eurasian Curlew) this season.
