The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period Monday, August 19, 2013 to Sunday, August 25, 2013: Area: SA Location: Blanch Harbour Shack Road Port Augusta Australasian Gannet (Morus serrator) (20) Birds were diving for fish along with crested Tern 600 to 1000Mts off shore. Birds were observed using a 25 x scope. Fluttering Shearwater (Puffinus gavia) (450) This large flock joined in with the Gannets and terns. They flew in low and many landed on the water in the area of feeding activity. Reported by: Winston Syson on Sunday, August 25, 2013 ——————————————— Location: Yorkies Crossing Port Augusta Pied Honeyeater (Certhionyx variegatus) (8) Birds were observed in an area of low shrubs and salt bush along with White-fronted chat,Brown and Rufous song Larks. Brown Songlark (Cincloramphus cruralis) (1) Big numbers of both Brown and Rufous song larks were observed in most areas visited in the upper Spencer Gulf. One Brown Songlark nest found with 3 eggs at Yorkies cross. White-backed Swallow (Cheramoeca leucosterna) (2) Birds were hawking for insects over the Mangroves Reported by: Winston Syson on Sunday, August 25, 2013 ——————————————— Date: Saturday, August 24, 2013 Location: White’s Road Wetlands, Bolivar Royal Spoonbill (Platalea regia) (200) An impressive roost of birds in breeding plumage on the main lake, with some display activity. Black-tailed Native-hen (Gallinula ventralis) (150+) In a number of large groups around the lakes. Black Falcon (Falco subniger) (1) Flying north over the open area to the west of the lakes.
