Hi all – on the topic of splitting owls etc, it looks like IOC is considering re-splitting Greater and Lesser Sooty Owl, see here: http://www.worldbirdnames.org/updates/species-updates-3-3/ (They should never have been lumped in the first place i.m.h.o…!) cheers Peter

I know that Lloyd Nielsen wrote a long paper about this 6 months back that was cc’d to IOC – a good chance they considered it, I’d say!!
