Spotted Dove In The Pilbara

Gidday

Found a lone Spotted Dove sitting in a shrub beside the coast at Karratha this morning. I have them around my house in Adelaide but was not expecting to find them up here.

A photo is on my blog just in case you think I’m dreaming… which is more than a likely possibility… and any information on previous sightings in the Pilbara would be appreciated.

Ciao

Hi Chris, Yes, there’s a known population up around Karratha/Dampier – I think they’ve been being reported since the mid 2000s at least though I could be wrong, there’s a few records on the WA sightings page with a max count of 12 birds Cheers,John
