Hi folks,
I am hoping to undertake another trip down to the Great Ocean Road next weekend, ostensibly as a romantic long weekend away (cover story for girlfriend) but also in a vain attempt to finally tick off one of my nemesis birds the Blue-winged Parrot.
Any recent information on where these birds have been sighted, or areas where historically they have been seen at this time of year would be appreciated. Please feel free to respond off line.
Cheers,
Carl Billingham Brisbane

I used to see Blue-winged Parrots very regularly in a patch of saltmarsh and coastal scrub between the Anglesea River and the caravan park. However, I was always there in January and the parrots may have been feeding on a plant that was in season then.

Steve Davidson sent me the following information re Blue-winged Parrot when we went to search for the Rufous Bristlebird (successfully) at Arieys Inlet.
……… your best bet for BW Parrot would be at nearby Anglesea Heath in the area up around the junction of Bald Hills Rd and Alcoa Boundary Tk.
Hope this helps.
