    Hi Steve, Having grown up in Diamond Creek and gone to school at Diamond Creek Primary and Hurstbridge High while it was in the grounds of Eltham High and at Hurstbridge and lived also at Nutfield and Cottlesbridge, I find it incredible that you could find Bell Miners in that area. They were always a backdrop to life in The Valley. Where could they have gone?

    La Trobe Wildlife sanctuary. normally open on Sundays, has a colony near the southern boundary ( melways 19J6 )accessible from Main Drive 19G5. With the wind in the right direction i can hear them from the suburb to the east ( Macleod ),
