Hi guys, Sorry for not replying any sooner about why I thought this image is of a Tawny Grassbird…

For me it was an instant easy decision due to the rufous crown & nape, together with a relatively clean unstreaked underbody. This is not the head colour of Little Grassbirds, which are also much more heavilly marked on the underparts than this bird shows. I thought the tail looking a little short was only due to the angle the image was taken from, so that the tail length was never a concern for me.

We in Cairns are very fortunate to have this species here in some abundance, so we get to see them very frequently.

Hi Mark,I tried to reply to birding-aus last night but all my email attempts bounced as spam!Anyhow, my best guess was Little Grassbird. Hard to judge from just one photo, but I thought the tail appeared too short, bill too fine & legs too dark for Tawny Grassbird. Cheers, Steve McBrideBallina ===============================
