Night Parrot in the news again

Confirming rumours that have been circulating now for a few weeks, there has been a claimed sighting of Night Parrot from an undisclosed location in north-west Victoria. The lucky observer is an office-holder with Birdlife Australia and boasts over 30 years experience in the field. However, don’t get too excited: this report is now many weeks old, and follow-up trips to locate the bird (which included Leo Joseph from the National Night Parrot Network) have been unsuccessful. I have written a story, which includes quotes from an interview with the observer, which will appear in tomorrow’s edition of The Age.

Cheers

Can someone please put me in touch with the “National Night Parrot Network”?

Well, as others have noticed, it’s not quite in the news yet! I’ve been on a pelagic trip off the Sunshine Coast today (more later on that) but I can only presume the piece has been held over until tomorrow or Monday. (I have no reason to believe it’s been spiked) :)

    Peter,

Sub-editorial staff at Fairfax have been on strike since 31/5/12. Perhaps it will take a day or two for the story to filter down. Unless it gets spiked, of course.

    Cheers,

    Carl Clifford

Did they put the article in? I can’t find it on The Age’s web site.

Thanks Andrew,   Positive to see the recent strike didn’t affect birding stories in Fairfax publications.   Cheers, Charles Hunter
