Just sitting on our deck at Brooms Head, north coast of NSW, watching a Peregrine Falcon zooming back and forth low over the beach. Has flown over the house 4 times, nearly taking the roof with it. When we first saw it about 15 minutes ago, it was being pursued by a Kestrel.
Only seen a Peregrine once before out here.
Two weeks ago, we had another unusual sighting of a Brown Falcon along the road about 400m from the coast. It was seen at about 9am add again at midday.

A pair used to nest on the former Qantas Building (now the Suncorp Building), 259 George Street (Cnr Jamison Street), not far from Circular Quay. Not sure if they still nest there. Stephen Ambrose Ryde NSW —–Original Message—– [mailto:birding-aus-bounces@lists.vicnet.net.au] On Behalf Of Carl Clifford Sent: Monday, 2 December 2013 8:30 PM Cc: Birding-aus (E-mail) Peter, There was a pair nesting on a building somewhere in the northern part of Sydney CBD, some years ago. Perhaps the Birds in Backyards people might be a help. Also, I vaguely remember one or more posts on B-A some years bak. Cheers, Carl Clifford building featured in the recently discussed episode of Bondi Vet, because she has found a fledgling at Circular Quay. Bondi Westfield, too far away from Circular Quay to be where this fledgling is from. She’s wondering if anyone knows of a closer nest. sent me, of your recent discussions re the Bondi Vet programme. I don’t watch it myself either, and I understand the show was actually a re-run of an old episode so my query now may not be relevant, but I was wondering if you happened to notice the exact location of the building? same stage of development, still reluctant to fly but as you know that’s quite normal for these young birds to start with, it’s a pretty overhwelming experience leaving the ledge. you or your colleaugues have that might help me accurately locate the roosting site I’d be very grateful. back out there in the wild as soon as I can, the nearer to home turf the better, while the parents will still be willing to support and educate him. =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) http://birding-aus.org =============================== =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) http://birding-aus.org ===============================
I’m afraid someone else is going to have to do the research. I don’t really know where Circular Quay is in relation to any Sydney suburbs. The nest is most likely going to be within gliding/falling distance of there.
