Singapore Birds App

Dear B-A,

There are regular RFI posts on B-A by birders who are passing through S/pore and want to do a spot of birding to fill in some time. The Nature Society of Singapore has published a field giuse App for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The App has good photographs of all species to be found in S/pore and has a listing facility which can export lists via email. The App is free.

The App can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store.

Cheers,

Carl Clifford

According to iTunes Store it needs iOS 4.0 or later, which means a 4th Gen. iPod Touch I am downloading it now. I wish I had it when I was there last year! Roger.

    G’day David et al.

I just tried to install this app to my 2nd Gen iPod Touch. It isn’t supported. Disappointing because I can run every other bird field guide app out there.

Oh well. I’m planning on a hardware upgrade later this year.

I wonder what the limitation is.

    Cheers Steve

Thanks to Carl for the tip off. The app is called “Birds of Singapore” and you can read more information here:

I’ve downloaded the app and had a look at it. It’s a pretty outstanding effort, particularly for a free app. Well worth having along if you’re birding in Asia as there are high-quality pictures of 300+ species and calls for 110 species. The app itself has some nice features, including integrated list taking and various ways of searching, displaying, and comparing species. ===============================
