Gary 16 December 2011 A new and highly informative, free downloadable publication is now available from the American Bird Conservancy’s Collision’s Program on “Bird-Friendly Building Design.” The 58-page publication examines the mirror effect of windows, glass transparency, the “passage effect” caused by dark glass, and the dramatic effects of external and internal building lighting, all of which contribute to bird collisions. The publication also addresses building design, bird movements, and habitat and landscape designs which can either prevent or increase the collision problem.
