I’m stuck in a taxi approaching the domestic terminal at Brisbane airport
I’ve just spotted a scrub turkey wandering around in a car park. Is this normal?

Thanks everyone, I was just surprised to see it. I lived in brisbane from 19910-93 and then they were only seen in the western suburbs, it’s great they can make a home in somewhere as apparently forbidding for megapodes as Brisbane airport.

Hi john – they can turn up anywhere but I must admit Ive not seen one out there! Mind you there is some scrubby areas around the airport. I saw one today on the sidewalk on busy Wynnum Rd in Brisbane as well! They are more common in the more heavily vegetated western suburbs of Brisbane, but my hunch is they are expanding into new areas. And I might add not always a popular bird with residents when they scratch foliage into pools and the like!
cheers
