At least 50/60 YTBCs flew over 13th Beach golf course (Barwon Heads) yesterday – was a wonderful sight and occurs about this time most years.

I agree that this is not a Golden/Yellow-crowned Bishop (Euplectes after). Bishops have eclipse plumages and in winter are dull brown and sparrow-like. ? Yellow Bishop

The bird is a yellow South African Bishop I think. Possibly remnant of a cony of escapees that was once living somewhere along the Hawksbury and lower Murray, but not to my knowledge reported for years. Came to me at 2.00 am.
