The potential role of birds in distributing insects

The eggs of some species survive avian digestion tracts – see www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/05/180528123957.htm

[Perhaps this is how the ancestors of the Lord Howe stick insects arrived]

Good news for Abbott’s Booby?

Christmas Island facing economic collapse as mine expansion rejected to save famous red crabs

Frankly I’m amazed any decisions in favour of the environment are made these days. — John Leonard Canberra

Common Myna not in Adelaide

We have just spent a week in Adelaide and I was surprised not to see a single Common Myna. Looking at eBird it seems they haven’t made it across the Mallee. Is this just because they don’t like the mallee habitat or is there some other reason?

Grey-crowned Babblers killing other birds’ young

A friend told me that other day that he had seen this species killing the young of other birds. Have any Birding Aussers witnessed this?

Thanks

East Kew Gang Gangs

Walking home through Hays Paddock in Kew East this evening, there were about 20 Gang Gangs up the top end of Glass Creek. I’ve not seen this many here before.
