Two Pacific Swifts, Redcliffe (Brisbane area)

HI Mike Two Pacific Swifts overhead for an extended period this morning – we observed them for 20 minutes from 9am and then moved on but the birds didn’t seem in a hurry to be going elsewhere as they wheeled above us in lowish circuits. I’m afraid I didn’t take a GPS reading but the . . . → Read More: Two Pacific Swifts, Redcliffe (Brisbane area)

WTNT

Hi Mike, 3x WTNT somewhere between Garie and Wattamolla, Royal National Park, South of Sydney yesterday, early afternoon. Sorry, don’t have precise time and location (I was walking the coast track). Very low (down to ground level almost) in strong westerly winds and some smoke from the Holsworthy/Menai bushfire. Paul

Butcherbirds (was Range of Weebill)

My impression (not based on hard data) is that Grey Butcherbirds have increased in abundance in the suburbs of Sydney too (north of the harbour, at least). I don’t have an obvious explanation for why this may be the case.

Looking for signs of spring

Mid April, but few signs of spring as yet in Tromsø

We have c. 1 m of snow on the ground in Tromsø now, but the last few days there has been a change in the weather, and now we still have night frost, but during the days the temperature ‘soars’ all the way up . . . → Read More: Looking for signs of spring
