By Birding-Aus, on November 18th, 2017% The local red wattle birds, superb wrens and welcome swallows have had successful broods. I have not seen the Australian Ravens, Pied Currawongs, noisy miners, grey butcher birds, magpies nor pee wees feeding young. I think that the red wattle birds are quiet because they are on the nest with the Koel’s egg/s? Sent from . . . → Read More: All very quiet at the moment.

By Birding-Aus, on November 13th, 2017% Hi Anthea, There are lots of big Robber Crabs on Christmas Island! Lets hope eating birds doesn’t occur to them. We were there during the red crab migration and did see plenty of robber crabs eating red crabs that had been squished on the road.

By Birding-Aus, on November 13th, 2017% Hi Anthea,
Judging from the red feet, I reckon it’s a red-footed booby.
They have been documented breeding on those islands.
Cheers

By Birding-Aus, on November 13th, 2017% Hello All, Recently I did a trip to Iron Range with Ken Haines and Ken spotted and photographed a female Yellow-billed Kingfisher. When we got back, I put a request in birding-aus for details of someone on a 2012 trip with Klaus Uhlenhut, where we saw a male Yellow-billed Kingfisher.
