Combining Emu and Cassowaries

I notice that the IOC (as of June 14th) are considering combining Emu and Cassowaries into one family.

You beauty!!! Since my goal is to see 50% of every family, I would then have 2 out of 4 and wouldn’t need to see Dwarf or Northern Cassowary in PNG.

Bring it on!

Purple-backed Fairywren

I notice that the IOC (as of June 9th) is considering the split of Purple-backed Fairywren (Malurus assimilis) from Variegated Fairywren (Malurus lamberti).

I would assume that ‘dulcis’ and ‘rogersi’ and ‘bernieri’ would be part of ‘assimilis’?
