great outback birding in SA

Hi all,

Well what a tumultuous few days it’s been here in SA! On Wednesday we drove through the start of the hurricane that hit the state on the first day of our SA Highlights tour to arrive in Lyndhurst with no electricity, no running water and no communications. The pub still managed to provide . . . → Read More: great outback birding in SA

Both birds sweep in again, & onto the top of the 2nd pediment. The male feeds the female copiously, then both fly off again. Perhaps the nest is not complete yet? Though certainly the female spent plenty of time in/at it, earlier…

Red-rumpled Parrot —

In the centre of Crows Nest town (Qld), a pair of Red-rumps nesting inside the fascia-pediment of an old brick shop. A couple of metres away, in the opposite crevice-corner, sparrows are nest-building.

No date on the building, but architectural signs of age outside & in, & signs of repair/exclusion attempts in . . . → Read More: unusual / adaptive nest

T-shirts

Hi Michael,

Because of the ecommerce platform’s limitations on the number of variants per product, larger sizes were not made available.

However, the Men’s t-shirt is available in size XS to XXXL (also 5XL in Black and White) and Women’s in sizes XS (i.e. 8) to XXL (i.e. 16). You can place a custom order . . . → Read More: T-shirts

Hi Elliot,

Sure! Just email the design you’d like (e.g. Gould’s Petrel 10N) to avinaturedesigns@gmail.com and I can edit the design and upload a new product to the store. Unfortunately, it is too time consuming to do this for each of the 60-odd design variants, so it can only be done on an order-by-order basis.

Great Tees for midgets, Why no XXLs for the heavies?

An ongoing series with pics of all the Petrels would be a great identification aid for occasional pelagers.

Cheers

Michael

My planned camping trip over the next week on the Lachlan has been foiled (I too was hoping to get to Round Hill but roads are still closed) so we are heading instead to the Hunter Valley to my in-laws place at Paynes Crossing. On one of the aya where the weather is . . . → Read More: Hunter River Sites and access

Very cool! Would it be possible to make a Qld version for the Qld Twitchathon? You’d just have to change the text…

Lake Cargelligo Trip Report 19-23 Sep 2016

Lake Cargelligo & region 19-23 September 2016

We had wanted to visit this region of NSW for several years and in planning when to go I was more concerned with heat and flies versus going to early before the birds we wanted were present. I was NOT thinking of floods, rain and mosquitoes….

Can anyone tell me where I can find downloadable field lists (for China)? I used to use www.printablebirdchecklists.homestead.com but it appears t be disabled. David Robertson Adelaide —– End forwarded message —–
