The 5th Borneo Bird Festival and Bird Race is to be held at the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), Sepilok, near Sandakan, Sabah, on 7-9 June.
The BBF is a great opportunity for birders unfamiliar with the avifauna of Borneo to see a good selection of Malaysian Borneo’s 570 odd species. The Rainforest Discovery Centre is set in the 4,300 Ha Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, which also includes the the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary. The Rainforest Discovery Centre is the easiest place to see one of the most iconic of Borneo bird species, the Bornean Bristlehead. A wide range of other wildlife can be seen at the RDC.
For those who are familiar with Borneo’s birds, the Bird Race is a chance to prove your mettle.
