Roger I saw the same behaviour at the Alice Springs Desert Park in 1997. We were told that the performing Black-breasted Buzzard was raised in captivity and had never seen emu eggs being broken, ie it is innate behaviour. I have seen film of the same behaviour of a captive bird but I think at the Alice Springs zoo or whatever it is called. Rather than use real eggs, it is performed with a fake egg and after breaking it, there was a dead mouse or something similar inside. Philip
