WTNT

Hi Mike,

Another report: this time about 20-40 WTNT at Broke Rd, Pokolbin, Hunter Valley (corner of Broke Rd and Wine Country Drive): 32, 46, 33S, 151, 20, 23E).

Very low: some circling <10m above the ground.

Didn’t hang around to watch: there was a big bottle of shiraz looking for me…

brown falcon or black falcon?

Dear Fellow Birders,

I was hoping someone could help identify this picture:

jpolak.org/falcon.jpg (~140kb)

My thoughts are either Black Falcon or Brown Falcon juvenile. I am heavily leaning towards Black Falcon because this individual doesn’t seem to have the ‘Brown falcon teardrops’ on the face, and we have seen plenty of Brown Falcons.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I got in contact with them via the gmail address. I was just a bit impatient to make my arrangements having got the PNG bit between my teeth.
