For the record, I saw all six species of falcon in one day in January 1972 at Dynevor Downs Station near Thargomindah, in south-west Queensland, in the company of Chris Corben and Greg Czechura. Much thanks to all the birders who assisted in my search for Robson’s Field Guide. A copy was found at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens. They delivered it the next day! Now that I have the guide, I will definitely see Vultures and Horned Owls in Vietnam, and be able to identify them easily. EB
CLOSURE OF BIRDHIDE The birdhide in Edithvale Rd, Edithvale, Vic remains closed to the public, by Melbourne Water, as it is deemed unsafe. The observation platform beside it gives good views but no weather protection. At present there is not a lot of waterfowl there despite the quantity of water.
