I saw my first Dollarbird of the season today – beside the Newcastle Link Rd. Also, yesterday, an early arrival in the form of a single Needletail, seen over the Fernleigh Track at Whitebridge. G’day, Dollarbird first heard at Carey Bay (near Toronto, NSW) on 21 September 2010, but then nothing heard until pair began calling and acting territorially on 25 September 2010. Cheers, Liz
Yesterday I saw a female Shining Flycatcher from the Mangrove Boardwalk at Coombabah Wetlands on the Gold Coast. I’ve never seen one south of Cairns but I know there are occasional sightings near Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
