Hi Folks, A single Pied Imperial Pigeon returned to the Lodge on 12th September which is about the normal date for returning birds. What was unusual about this bird was that it has a grey head. It has been seen several times since and the head is still grey. A photo is on our blog page( http://kingfisherparkbirdwatchers.blogspot.com) along with what appears to be a giant juvenile Black-necked Stork in Cairns. We also put up a couple of photos of Graceful Honeyeater in light of the recent discussion about these and Yellow-spotted Honeyeater. fantastic – we saw a similar PIP on 20th Sept, preening and cuddling with another one in neighbour’s big eucalypt – first thought it was shadow from the leaves or dirt of some kind but the head was light greyish. Too far off for photo and it hasn’t been back. Our first Wongaling Beach PIP arrived on 15 Sept.
