Redthroat in the Coorong NP

While conducting OBP surveys in the Coorong on Sat 13th Sep myself, William Brooker, Les Moore and Lisa Girdham stumbled across a bird which we couldn’t identify at the time, a few photos were taken and sent to a few people to help ID this bird. Thanks to all those people for commenting on the photos, and particularly Mike Carter and Sean Dooley the identification was resolved as a Redthroat. This is a long way from the nearest record and further still from their normal range. The bird was seen on a lake edge in amongst Shrubby Glasswort along the 42 Mile Crossing track in the Coorong NP, and was mostly on its own but did mix in with a small flock of White-fronted Chats when it was flushed.
