Northern Rivers NSW birding 13-27 July

Thanks to the generosity of a friend, we spent 2 weeks holidaying at Lennox Head late last month. Although birding was not top of the agenda, we did manage to get out and about and were able to rack-up 138 species during the fortnight. The birding highlights of the hols included: Flat Rock, Ballina—- Wandering Tattler, Sooty Oystercatcher, Ruddy Turnstone Byron Bay Wetlands—- Black-necked Stork, 8 species of H/E McMahon’s swamp, Casino—- Black-fronted Dotterel, Common Blackbird (Steve McB. reasonably casts some doubt on this, local birders could perhaps attempt to confirm) Victoria Park NR, Alstonville— Noisy Pitta, Rose-crowned Fruit- dove, Russet-tailed Thrush Qld Rd swamp, Casino—- Hoary-headed Grebe, Glossy Ibis Llewellyn’s Rd, Casino— Aust Hobby, Glossy Ibis, Yellow-billed Spoonbill Sextonville Rd swamp, Kyogle—- Black-necked Stork Richmond Rv., Ballina—- Double-banded Plover Border Ranges NP—- Albert’s Lyrebird, Rufous Scrub Bird, Paradise Riflebird (all heard only, none seen) Russ Lamb, Maleny, SEQ =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: birding-aus-request@vicnet.net.au http://birding-aus.org ===============================
