Good morning
I have visited French Island once a month for most of this year for a Friends of French Island (FOFI) National Park working bee/outing and there has been no shortage of Cape Barren geese on the island. In fact they are very prolific and seen right across the island mostly grazing in the farmland that makes up one third of the island…the balance is national park.

Have been contacted by the Environment and Sustainability Officer at HMAS
Cerberus (Vic) who has noted a dramatic drop in their numbers of geese
recently.
I know that numbers also fluctuate quite dramatically at the WTP in
Werribee, so I am wondering if anyone knows where they go to – is it just a
generally nomadic species or do they go to specific breeding sites at some
times of year?
