Last weekend at several wetlands near Kerang, duck rescuers found the following protected species: Little Raven -1 Australasian Grebe – 1 Musk Duck – 2 Pied? Cormorant – 1 (Any help with ID would be appreciated) Five swan eggs were collected. Musk Ducks rarely fly so it must be assumed these two were shot on the water. ‘Game’ species – about 17 old, 7 freshly shot Dozens of game species were also found blown to pieces in a sustained, one-hour shooting session that occured after dark. Among 68 duck heads found were Pink-eared Ducks, Shovelers, both Teals, and Shelducks. Duck shooting season is nearing its end (13 June). Let’s make sure it’s the last. ===============================
